The ratio of fish meal to that of turtles is the closest. The addition of fish meal can ensure the rapid growth of various turtles. In the large-scale farming of turtles, fish meal which made the compact fish meal machines is the most important raw material in turtle feed, and the most important protein source in turtle feed. So far, no other raw materials can completely replace fish meal, so the quality of fish meal is of great significance in artificial turtle farming.
The fish meal feed suitable for turtle farming is mainly derived from two kinds of fish meal: white fish meal and red fish meal. What is the difference between these two types of fish meal?
1.White fish meal
White fish meal is mainly made from white fish meat such as cod and catfish. Most of the raw fish that make white fish meal live in the deep sea. The fish is large, has high nutritional content, relatively low fat content, light fish color, and is easy to preserve.
The machine made white fish meal is currently the most high-grade feed raw material. It has the best effect and the highest efficiency when it is used to prepare feed for breeding animals. For example, white fish meal is indispensable in the compound feed at the seedling stage in turtle breeding.
However, due to the depletion of marine resources and the increasing demand, the production of white fishmeal has decreased year by year and prices have soared. The main producing areas of white fish meal are in the United States, Russia and Denmark. In recent years, New Zealand production has also increased significantly.
Red fish meal is mainly made from red meat fish such as sardines, herring and mackerel. The raw fish of red fish meal mostly lives in the upper ocean, and is generally not suitable for direct consumption. Its resource is more than the raw fish for producing white fish meal, so the annual catch is large.
The fish meal made by the commercial fish meal machines is darker in color, has a higher fat content and volatile base nitrogen value, and has lower nutritional value than white fishmeal. The main producing areas of red fish meal are in Argentina, Chile, Peru and other countries.
